| "Roger Harvey On Dawn on the Beach This series shows a new technique I'm working on which is a little more abstract. I'm a pretty traditional landscape artist and I use photographs for reference. I put the digital image into a computer. Then I'll put out a print and paint from the print. In doing that a lot I see pixels in the photograph, so the pixels have started appearing in the paintings. This is one of fifteen to twenty paintings I do a year. Normally, during the winter I paint and the summer I sell, so this is an extension of last winter and a start for the next year, some new direction I'm going to work on. The price range of my work is about $1,500-$5,000 and I do commissions all the time. The big market for my work is the second homeowners in the area and that could just be due to the price range of the paintings. I also do posters and prints and stuff for several hundred bucks. Roger Harvey is a graphic designer trained at the Art Institute of Chicago with his own design firm of six people and worked on Fortune 500 accounts and for advertising agencies including Leo Burnett and J. Walter Thompson. He has designed over fifty album and CD covers and worked on the packaging for the original Happy Meals. He started a design firm in New Buffalo fifteen years ago and began working as an artist ten years ago." Excerpt from Story "Show Us YOUR WALLS" Pages 99 |
